USAF Cargo Aircraft 1946-1970

Air transport is a major mission the U.S. Air Force.  After World War II, it relied heavily on the C-46s and
C-47s carried over from the war, but soon new prop-planes joined the fleet.  These included the workhorse
C-54s, C-119s and C123s.  The C-135 provided the Air Force with its first jet transport. It was followed by the
C-141, C-5B and C-9A.    This section included not only the basic transport aircraft, but also the major variations, such as the KC-97 and KC-135 tankers, the EC-121 Warning Star and the RC-135 Airborne Command Post.
