Activation
     Established as the 455th Fighter-Bomber wing on March 23, 1953. Redesignated the 455th Strategic Missile Wing (ICBM-Minuteman), and activated on June 29, 1962. Organized on November 1, 1962 at Minot AFB, North Dakota
Minuteman Missiles
     The 455th prepared for operational capability with intercontinental ballistic missiles from November 1962 to march 1964. The first missile arrived on September 6, 1963 and was placed in it's silo three days later. the 150th and last missile was placed in it's silo on February 26, 1965 and by late march, the wing was combat ready.
Status
     Discontinued and inactivated June 25, 1968. Replaced by the 91st Strategic Missile Wing
