Activation
     Established as the 384th Bombardment Wing, Medium on March 23, 1953.  Activated at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas on August 1, 1955.
B-47 Stratojets and KC-97 Tankers
     The 384th was poorly manned and without aircraft in 1955.  Received B-47s the following year and trained to maintain proficiency in strategic bombing.   Assigned KC-97s in 1961 and 1962, but they were replaced by KC-135s in 1964.  Discontinued and inactivated September 1, 1964.
384th Refueling Wing
    Redesignated the 384th Air Refueling Wing on Nov. 15, 1972.  Activated December 1, 1972 at McConnell AFB, Kansas.  Flew KC-135s.
