One of the first bases assigned to the newly
formed Strategic Air Command. In 1947, it was home of the 57th Fighter
Wing.
500th
Air Refueling Wing November 15, 1962 at Selfridge AFB, Mich. Closed 1971,
became Selfridge ANGB, CGAS Detroit, NAF Detroit. NAF Detroit closed in 1994.
